What’s New?
Transitioning from PDF to iXBRL
The transition marks the end of traditional filing methods.
PDF and Excel submissions are being 100% phased out for large and medium-sized entities. Moving forward, the only accepted standard for submission is iXBRL.
This shift mirrors the ESEF standards, bringing a higher level of transparency and data usability to the Dutch market.
What Changed?
Entities that previously submitted filings in XBRL format must now transition to iXBRL, regardless of entity size.
Timelines under this mandate are particularly strict. Once financial statements are approved by shareholders, companies have eight calendar days to submit the iXBRL filing.
Support can be provided through an expert-assisted service model, with full review and validation taking place on the platform.
On the IRIS CARBON platform, the balance sheet is already tagged using the KVK taxonomy. On the right-hand side, the taxonomy panel displays the available vocabulary taxonomies used for SBR reporting, including the SBR 2024 taxonomy.
When the review module is opened, the tagged values are immediately visible against each line item. The platform allows easy navigation across the document to see where each tag is applied and how values are mapped.
Selecting any individual tag reveals its full properties, including taxonomy references and attributes. This enables detailed validation and ensures the correct elements are consistently applied.
All tagging, review, and validation activities are managed directly within the platform.
In addition, a company-specific taxonomy package is generated. This package includes the required structures and linkbases, along with all financial statements. In this demonstration, only selected sections are tagged to showcase the workflow, but the complete set of statements would be included for final submission.
The structure is designed to be rolled forward year over year, significantly reducing effort in future reporting cycles.
The platform also supports notes tagging. While detailed notes tagging is not currently mandatory under the KVK mandate, tagged notes can be viewed both within the document and in the viewer, allowing organizations to prepare for future requirements.
Given the concise structure of the report and the consistency across entities, the tagging and review process remains straightforward and efficient. Where disclosures are similar, timelines can be further optimized.
This approach enables clear scoping, predictable timelines, and efficient preparation for KVK-compliant iXBRL submission.
