Asthildur Hjaltadottir -de la Fuente (Founder and owner, ESG Matters)
Asthildur is a senior sustainability professional with a unique expertise in the field of sustainability reporting acquired through over 17 years of working for GRI, the pioneer in the field. During her tenure at GRI, Asthildur held various positions, including managing GRI’s report services, training and coaching departments and as Chief Regional Officer overseeing the work of GRI’s regional offices. Her last position at GRI was Chief Sustainability Officer where she was responsible for GRI’s own sustainability reporting. In 2024 Asthildur left GRI and set up ESG Matters – Sustainability Consulting & Coaching, a boutique firm that specializes in assisting companies on their reporting journey. Prior to GRI, Asthildur worked for international organisations in Belgium and the Netherlands. She is a Dutch and Icelandic national and holds degrees in Political Science & Government, and English Language & Literature, from the University of Iceland.
