In July 2018, XBRL US, the national consortium for developing machine-readable reporting and a nonprofit, announced the formation of a State and Local Government Disclosure Modernization Working Group. IRIS Business Services was part of this working group. We had a ringside view of developments related to US local government reporting.
IRIS had a key role to play in developing a ‘commercial grade’ XBRL taxonomy under a pilot project run by XBRL US and the University of Michigan’s Center for Local, State and Urban Policy (CLOSUP). We further helped Michigan’s County of Ogemaw, Pine River Township, and City of South Haven prepare ACFRs in iXBRL as part of the pilot.
